Note: This is Part 2 in a 3-part series entitled: Growing Customer Relations Is Focus Of General Tree Service
General Tree Service wouldn’t be what it is without its management team leading their growing staff of tree professionals. Working together, we make sure everyone is focused on the needs of our customers while modeling the behavior we want our employees to follow.
In addition, we take great care to follow the high standards set by the ISA and TCIA, which is why we encourage continuing education for all employees, including management. Keeping up with the latest advances in the tree and landscape industry allows us to better address the issues of customers.
Clint Landon-President and Owner
I am a native to the Northwest, born and raised in the Portland Metropolitan area.
I have worked in the green industry for the last 25 years in areas ranging from landscape maintenance and construction, climbing arborist, plant health care technician, arboricultural consultant and now as President and owner of General Tree Service.
I earned a Degree in Horticulture from Oregon State University. I am a Board-Certified Master Arborist and have a Tree Risk Assessment Qualification.
When not working, I enjoy spending time with my wife Amy, children Grace and Cooper and my dog Silvi exploring the outdoors.
I look forward to meeting you soon and helping you with your tree and landscape needs.
Meet the management of General Tree Service
As you read about our management team (in their own words), you’ll see how dedicated they are to the environment, the Pacific Northwest and their families.
RAY CARTER-GENERAL MANAGER
I grew up in the green industry, working for a retail garden nursery next door to the house in which I was raised. Counting those early days, I have more than 40 years of experience working with plants, people and trees.
I started with General Tree Service as a Plant Health Care technician in 1990. From there, I worked my way up the ladder to General Manager and have been filling that role for the past 15 years while seeing the economy boom and bust.
Through it all, because of the great people I work with, we have successfully maintained some of the most beautiful landscapes in the Portland/Vancouver metro areas. I’m very proud of that.
My wife and I live in Brush Prairie WA with 2 dogs, 2 cats, many chickens and such! We are now empty nesters and have 3 grown kids and 2 grand kids ages 3 and 1. In my spare time (which isn’t much) I enjoy hunting, fishing and being outdoors.
STEVE ZETTERLUND-OPERATIONS MANAGER
I have been with General Tree Service since 1992. I am an ISA certified arborist and licensed with the state of Oregon as a Landscape Construction Professional.
I am also a licensed commercial pesticide applicator and pesticide consultant. I have a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Biology from North Park University in Chicago, IL.
I love spending my time outdoors. I especially enjoy hiking and exploring the beauty of the Pacific Northwest. I love the Oregon coast and any trail that leads to a waterfall! I also enjoy taking road trips and exploring out of the way locations.
ERIC BROCKMEYER-CREW MANAGER
I grew up in a very small central Wisconsin town in the heart of dairy country. Needless to say, I am a die-hard Packer fan. I moved to Portland in the fall of 2001 with a wonderful woman who later became my wife for the past 11 years. Together we have two young boys, Leaf (8) and Jude (4).
I started my arboriculture career in the spring of 2006, became an ISA Certified Arborist three years later and have been working for General Tree Service for the past 6 years. I’m also an ISA Tree Risk Assessor Qualified and a TCIA Certified Tree Care Safety Professional.
If I’m not out managing crews or climbing trees, you can find me enjoying my son’s youth soccer games or out camping with my family.
Part 3 coming soon
The last post in this series will focus on our community representatives who deliver personalized service to Portland metro neighborhoods and beyond.
